CTC Campaigning Comes to Bristol
As part of a wide ranging consultation exercise, CTC - the national cycling and campaigning organisation - came to Bristol on Saturday 28 June.
The CTC has been hosting a series of discussions on the current state of cycle campaigning in Britain. Under the title of 'Look Bike, Look Forwards' the exercise will be used to inform the development of a 5-year strategy for CTC campaigns at a national and local level.
The Bristol occasion was well attended, with representatives from Bristol Cycling Campaign of course but also from Sustrans, Bristol City Council and cycling campaign groups as far afield as Dorset, Cardiff and the Stroud Valley.
The different working sessions looked at critical issues such as transport policy in the UK, highway planning, access to public transport and awareness raising.
The exercise comes at a critical time for cycle campaigning. The CTC has just appointed Roger Geffen as the new Campaigns Manager and he recognises that the various cycling interest groups have got to work together to have greater positive impact on government policy and public opinion.
